week 20 of the money mental earnings challenge – slow progress towards the target

Spread the love

Hello readers! And welcome to week 20 of the money mental earnings challenge! This week sees more progress in the challenge! With the accuistion of a storage unit which is costing me £130 a month so now as well as earning £430 a month I will also need to add in an addition £130 of costs meaning I’ll have to earn a massive £560 a month for the challenge. Wish me luck!

For those of you are unfamiliar with the challenge and what I’m trying to achieve you may want to start off by reading this post here.

The target is to make £560 a month to cover the costs of my car loan, car insurance, road tax and newly accquired storage unit. Each week I will be reporting on my progress towards this monthly challenge. I’ll be using a variety of different sources to earn money details of which I’ve written about in this post here.

If you want to see how I did in the last week of the challenge you can find out by clicking here.

Each week I’ll give a breakdown of what I’ve earned and how I’ve earned it before. As previously mentioned my main source of income to support the challenge will be buying and selling goods on eBay so for reporting purposes I will include details of what items I sold on eBay, how much it cost me, how much I sold it for and how much profit I made after fees. The last figure will be rounded down to the nearest 50p for ease.

So here’s week 20!

Where are the batles and where’s elvis books – cost £0.38 for the pair from Aldi, sold in a 15% off sale for £12.84 including shipping. Total profit after fees 7.50

Friends Central Perks mug – cost £2 from Primark, sold for £10.99 including shipping. Total profit after fees £4.50

Friends Central Perks mug – cost £2 from Primark, sold for £10.99 including shipping. Total profit after fees £4.50

Captain America Tin mug – cost £0.99 from Home Bargains, old for £6.79 including shipping in the 15% off sale. Total profit after fees £1.50 (got a few of these on a multi-quantity listing so I’m ok with the profit on this sale)

Monarch of the Glen DVD boxset – cost £2 from a charity shop, sold for an offer of £25 including shipping. Total profit after fees £17 (had loads of offers of £20 for this but I held out for more and got it).

Anono Mask game – cost £1.50 in the boots 70% off sale, sold for £7.99 including shipping. Total profit after fees £2.50 (Happy with this profit as I’ve got a few of these on a multi-quantity listing).

Disney Minnie Mouse kids sunglasses – cost £1 from a charity shop, sold for £6.99 including shipping. Total profit after fees £4. (Had two of these which have now both sold so a good profit made).

Total eBay income: £130 (not the best week of sales which has been made worse by 2 returns costing me a total of £45). So total eBay profit – £85.

Facebook income:

No facebook sales this week.

Total facebook income: £0.00

Other income:

Cleo App £5

Total other income: £5

Week 20 total income: £90

Not a good week for me with losing £40 on a return. Sales were slow this week as I haven’t been doing much listing and this will be the case for the rest of the month I suspect as packing and moving my unlisted stock into storage takes priority. Adding this week’s challenge income to week 19’s challenge income gives me a total for the month so far of £249.50 towards my £560 challenge target. Will I make it this month? Only time will tell!

Thanks for reading.
