Week 8 of the money mental earnings challenge – making more money

Spread the love

Hello all! And I hope you have had a good Christmas and it’s not been too much of a challenge for you!. So another week has passed which means another update on the money mental earnings challenge! I know you’ve all been waiting for it! For those of you are unfamiliar with the challenge and what I’m trying to achieve you may want to start off by reading this post here.

The target is to make £430 a month to cover the costs of my car loan, car insurance, and road tax. Each week I will be reporting on my progress towards this monthly challenge. I’ll be using a variety of different sources to earn money details of which I’ve written about in this post here.

If you want to see how I did in the last week of the challenge you can find out by clicking here

Each week I’ll give a breakdown of what I’ve earned and how I’ve earned it before. As previously mentioned my main source of income to support the challenge will be buying and selling goods on eBay so for reporting purposes I will include details of what items I sold on eBay, how much it cost me, how much I sold it for and how much profit I made after fees. The last figure will be rounded down to the nearest 50p for ease.

So without further ado here’s week 8!

eBay:

Ideal Games Grabalo (brand new)  – A free gift from attending the blogon conference, sold for £11 including shipping. Total profit after fees: £6.50

Angry Birds Death Star Jenga – Cost £0.49 from a charity shop, sold for £12 including shipping. Total profit after fees:£6.50

Ready Steady Cook Board game  – Cost £0.49 from a charity shop, sold for £11 including shipping. Total profit after fees: £5 (took ages to sell so not really worth picking up – eventually sold it using the new make an offer to a watcher feature).

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Mug – Cost £2.99 from Aldi – sold for £8.49 including shipping. Total profit after fees: £1

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Mug – Cost £2.99 from Aldi – sold for £8.50 including shipping. Total profit after fees: £1

Mens Quicksilver long sleeved shirt size large – cost £2.25 from a charity shop, sold for £13.50 including shipping. Total profit after fees: £6.50

Aldi Pascal the Parsnip plush, Cost £3.99 from Aldi, sold for £10 and buyer collected so no shipping costs. Total profit after fees: £5

And that’s it for eBay sales – the sales tap slowed down as Christmas eve approached.

Total eBay income: £31.50 – my worst week for eBay sales since starting on the challenge but I expected this as I’d made sure my dispatch and courier times for this week reflected the fact that I wouldn’t be delivering anything in time for Christmas. I expect the following week to be slow as well before we head into January.

Facebook:

I was left with a few Kevin the Carrot items which I’d not managed to sell on eBay so I decided to put them up for sale on facebook marketplace. Sales and profits as follows:

Aldi Kevin the Carrot beanstalk book – Cost £2.99 from Aldi – sold for £8. Total profit £5.01

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Mug – Cost £2.99 from Aldi – sold for £7. Total profit after fees: £4.01

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Mug – Cost £2.99 from Aldi – sold for £7. Total profit after fees: £4.01

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Christmas tree decorations – Cost £3.99 from Aldi – sold for £10. Total profit after fees £6.01

Aldi Kevin the Carrot Christmas tree decorations – Cost £3.99 from Aldi – sold for £10. Total profit after fees £6.01

Aldi Katie the Carrot plush – Cost £3.99 from Aldi – sold for £10. Total profit after fees £6.01

Total profit from facebook: £31.06

Other Income:

Curious Cat £3.66

Qmee £0.72

Total other income: £4.38

Week 8 total income: £66.94

Adding this figure to week 5, 6’s and 7’s income gives me a total income for the month of £577.66. So I’m now well in excess of this months £430 target. There’s one more week to go for this month but Christmas day does fall within it so I may not earn too much more money! It’d be nice to hit the £600 mark though if I can. As always I hope you’ve enjoyed reading and hopefully the above has proved useful to those who are considering reselling themselves.

All the best.

Andrew
